Strom Thurmond was born in 1902. Sam Hose (sometimes written as Sam Holt) & Lije Strickland were both lynched in April 1899, so Strom could not have been at their lynchings, so who is the man being hung & which one of the white men is Strom? Just curious. I came across the case of the Alfred Cranford murder, for which Sam Hose & Lije Strickland were lynched, while researching family genealogy - no idea whether this Alfred was any relation to my family of not, but we share the same last name.
