A new study by a Harvard lecturer shows more than 200,000 recent veterans have sought medical treatment at Veterans’ Administration medical facilities, about one-seventh of the 1.4 million U.S. troops that have deployed to both of the wars.
The number could grow exponentially — 900,000 of the 1.4 million war veterans are still on active duty. When they separate from the military, they could overwhelm the VA health care system, warns study author Linda Bilmes.
