Iraq Deaths Don’t Mean Failure, Pace Says

The recent rise in U.S. troop deaths in Iraq is the “wrong metric” to use in assessing the effectiveness of the new security strategy for Baghdad, Marine Gen. Peter Pace, the outgoing chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said yesterday.

  1. Pray tell Pace what is the right metric? The number of emaciated naked children lying around the orphanges? The number of minarets remaining intact? Or should we just wait till September when, by some stroke of magic, we’ll better be able to evaluate the efficacy of the new security strategy?
