“The End of America”

Fascinating interview with renowned author Naomi Wolf, perhaps best known for her early 1990s feminist classic “The Beauty Myth”, considered by many to be one of the most important works of the 20th century.

Wolf discusses her new book “The End of America”, already on the New York Times bestseller list. The book identifies ten classic steps common to all dictatorships — including those of Mussolini, Hitler and Stalin. Alarmingly, Wolf makes the case that each of these ten steps is occurring in post 9/11 America today. The book is a call to action for young and concerned Americans and this interview intimately frames this important discussion.

  1. Hey, gorgeous keedo standing next to the rock ‘n’ roll ghost. O Johnny Thunders looks a little overweight and his sideburns are turning grey, but he still likes to beebop boogie and jiveto his worn out 78s. One of the originals, ooh pah pa doo, ()moving on down the highway. One of the originals. You know, I saw Johnny Thunders play. In Boston. Saw Paul Westerberg. I think he chose life, but he’s not as cool as Dan Zabes. Saw the Kinks at least 19 times, Tom {etty the first time they ever played Boston, and it was legendary. Mike Campbell went into the crowd and girls went wild.

Nave you heard the Allison Krauss and Robert Plant record? I’m a fool for harmonies, but this is mighty good. If you couldn’t figure out the bluegrass in lots of Led Sep, you were missing large portions.

So, anyway. I’ve gone on this long hoping to entertain you to some extent. What do you think about KT? I think she’s superb, but I’m a guy and she’s ridiculously attractive. But youknow, she has a Christmas album and does a tremendous version of 2000 Miles.

What do you think about Grace Potter? I think Ah Mary sounds like Lone Justice. I think that’s excellent.
